Look up Japan Travel Bureau (they have a few offices around the USA). They’re Japan’s biggest travel agency, and book huge volumes of seats wholesale. I’ve always gotten fares around $750 (including a domestic flight in the USA to get to LA). If you’re lucky, they’ll book you on JAL.
