They are not in any way related to the content of the post.
Eventually we’ll have AI good enough to filter out comments that don’t actually discuss the post, and the spambots will have to actually post a relevant comment. And that’ll be a good thing. (And I think I saw an XKCD comic on the topic, but I can’t just find it.)
