Deployed Web Designs
- Case Western Reserve University
- The design of the campus Web server, including the home page and common graphic elements such as the toolbars, are mine. At the time I designed it, I was administrating the system (with help from John Sully).
- Case Western Reserve University: Y2K version (local copy)
- A parody of the Y2K bug which was unleashed at precisely midnight Eastern Standard Time on New Year's Eve 2000. This design was the department's answer to the question, "What would happen if the Web server actually got hit by a Y2K glitch?" If it's still available, you can see the real thing. Either way, enjoy!
- Great Lakes Science Center
- When you get there, remember that the design reflects the cutomer's desire to have a "bright and fun" Web site. Almost all of the pages are driven out of a database, which allowed us a great deal of flexibility in serving up data and performing user customization.
- Encyclopedia of Cleveland History
- This site is one of my best "minimal-impact" designs, despite the fact that it uses frames. I was responsible for the design of all graphic elements, page layout for the index and articles, and overall project management. The backend coding was done by Mike Pirnat and Wes Barton.
- Mac Gaming Alliance (MGA)
- The MGA folks wanted a new site design, so they sponsored a contest where they gave away a Macintosh computer game in exchange for a redesign. I entered and won, so now I can claim I'm an award-winning Web designer. (Site temporarily unlinked due to problems on their end.)
- Silver Creek Farm
- This is a community-supported agriculture farm, certified organic, and so on. My wife is a member of the working core on the farm, and so, by extension, am I. They didn't have a Web site but wanted one, so I volunteered. This is the result. (Site temporarily unlinked due to problems on their end.)
- WRUW-FM
- I have a show on the station, and I know the Webmasters, and when they asked me to create a simple design I came up with this. The intention was to create something with visual interest which was still easy to maintain and quick to download.
- EuclidPLUS
- At the request of our Library Systems Specialist, I designed nearly all of the graphical elements for CWRU's Web interface to its library catalog system. (The link above points to the old design, as opposed to the new page, which was redesigned by committee.)
Experimental Designs
- Complex Spiral
- This design may actually migrate into the "Deployed Designs" section some day. I have a domain registered, but still haven't gotten around to making it into an actual site with useful content and all that sort of thing. (The people depicted in the design should not be associated with the site or the opinions implied. Except for me, of course.)
- The Tatara Files
- My favorite movie critic is Paul Tatara (CNN.com), and I've always toyed with the idea of setting up a fan site. If I were younger, I probably would have done it by now. Regardless, I created a design which I thought was actually pretty good. (NOTE: neither I nor my design have any affiliation with Paul Tatara, although he wrote me to say that he likes it too!)
- mumble.com
- I sketched this design on a flight back from Atlanta, and was later distressed to find out that the domain was already claimed. This didn't deter me from assembling the design. (NOTE: neither I nor my design have any affiliation with the real mumble.com.)
- Darkfall
- The real point of this was the "copyfitted" title. In order to see what I mean, make your browser window wider (or narrower) and see what the title does. Otherwise, there isn't much to it. There are basically no colors, and I even stole the text from the NetForce design (see above) just to fill in space.
Graphic Design & Art
- Graphic Designs
- A small collection of pseudo-print ads, logo designs, ad banners, and other buttons which I've created over the years.
- The 3D Gallery
- A collection of 3D scenes constructed and rendered by yours truly.
